It coincided almost a week after the Fall colors first started showing in the canyon. Perfect! I sent a text notice of the first snowfall of the season as I always do; hoping that someone out there would celebrate with me. There were a few grumbles, but I also unexpectedly received some enthusiastic texts back (thanks to you all). Of course, this is the supreme season- the juxtaposition between Autumn and Winter. It's a span of time that goes by in a blink, but it's one of the best showings of nature's finery. Beautiful snow, beautiful leaves, beautiful cool air! Heaven sent, I tell you. It enlivens all your senses! I will forever hail the miracles of cool, crisp Autumn air!
On the flip side, I can't understand the love of summer here in the arid lands of Utah's desert. How is it natural to love heats which are sustained, days on end, past 100 degrees? It's a known fact that as the temperature rises, so does violent crime. I think this alone will be point enough to rest my case on. But if you need others, I've so got them. I have no shame in spouting them off to you. Good luck.
I'm posting some pictures from this great first snow. They were taken this morning on my way to Utah State- through Wellsville (aka "Sardine") canyon. Please excuse the car window- I was running a bit late. This drive could become pretty hairy with the winter season, but for now, it is a pure delight. As I climb, I watch the temperature drop on the thermometer (provided with my car) and promptly roll down all my windows.
Ahhhhhhh..... perfect.
If any of you want to come visit, I have a fold-out sofa bed for free. =)
