My uncle tried to open his birthday present which my dad carefully wrapped with shipping tape, making sure none of the corners or anything would stick up. This meant that my uncle couldn't get a fingerhold very easily on the wrapping paper, so we got to watch him get progressively aggressive with the packaging.
That was all we did that day. It took that long.
A few days ago, we headed inland to go check out one of my favorite areas of the state: Gainesville, FL. We mostly went to see the historic towns of McIntosh and Micanopy. I love all the spanish moss on the trees.
This is McIntosh:
These towns are among the first settled in Florida; Micanopy is the oldest inland city (village, more like). They have small, narrow dirt roads set up on a block system almost like Utah, but not quite as rigid. In McIntosh, there are a lot of churches and antique stores; in Micanopy, there are cool boutiques and a very unique main street.
I also went and visited Gainesville, but it was dark by the time I got there, so we only took two pictures. This one is all of us huddled around Laura's laptop (Rachel's sister) watching Hannah Montana because Laura is such a fan. (Secretly, of course.) Also a secret is the fact that Doug wanted to watch the entire episode.
This one was taken earlier at University of Florida GO GATORS!!! at The Swamp. It's dark, but I took a picture of the momentous occasion because it's hallowed ground. I'm not including it though. Mainly because it looks like you walked in with your eyes closed.
