Bubble Wrap and a question

I inherited an extra large roll of bubble wrap. Wait, no. Industrial-sized roll of bubble wrap- this gives you a clearer image. I cut it up and put it on some of my windows so that people couldn't see in as well. Cracker-tastic. I didn't know that it would make it actually impossible to see in from the outside. I'm happy. I've got light coming in and weirdos from the street can't see in anymore. I have a lot of weirdos.

In the bedroom (it actually lets in a LOT more light than this- just trust me):

In the kitchen- I only wanted to block half the view (the sidewalk part where the weirdos hang out)- but still see the tree, so I made faux-curtains:

Ok. Now my question.

Background: I also have been wanting to do something with my bedroom wall because there are holes in it from the last tenant and wires hanging down from the reading lights. I've been wanting to cover it with something to hide the wires and holes- which are pretty much in the same vicinity. I used the bubble wrap, which I thought would look cool, but I didn't have professional tools- just double-sided tape. Again, cracker-tastic. Can't be helped, it's bubble wrap. I did the best I could, but I was wanting to actually paint the bubble wrap or the wall behind it to give it less of a "my bedroom was just shipped" look and more of a funky modern look. Uh, is this possible with industrial-strength rolls of plastic? I put up some ribbon in an attempt to hide the seams where the sheets lined up together. Perhaps I really did this because I am a girl and secretly wanted to use ribbon on something. Or everything. Obviously, this is an experiment since I've never seen something like this done before. Probably a reason for that. Check. This experiment was one gone sorta wrong. Obviously I'm not happy with the results, but I think it does look a tiny bit better than the holy wall.

Question: What ideas do you have? I have to do something non-permanent. I have been thinking about fabric, but it could be really expensive to do that. Paint is against the rules (well- except neighbors got away with it, soo....) and wouldn't hide the cords, anyway. Anything you guys can think of with the bubble wrap besides painting it? I was thinking pictures on that wall could also look cool with the wrap. More ribbon? Other mediums? Give up the bubble wrap?

  1. All I can think of is the Simpson's episode where they try to "baby-proof" everything. Sorry, I can't help it.
Also I am thinking it would be cool to roll down the street and make a sort of "snappy" slip and slide out of.
Or we could go around and wrap up peoples cars in it, seems like a cleaner version of leaves, and shrink wrap has it's own set of problems.

  2. You heard most of my ideas last night. I was thinking you could make just a bubble wrap headboard. But I don't think that would solve your wall troubles, unless the bulk of them are there. I am emailing you right now so we can plan a time to craft.
    I like Spencer's suggestions. :)

  3. When I was little my mom would redo the bedrooms based on which kid was sleeping in it by stapling up bedsheets to the wall behind the bed like walpaper. Then the wall always matched our bedspread, she just bought extra sheets. It was really quick to put up and easy to take down again.
